“Everybody wants to be Beyoncé, but you don't want to put in the work.”- Cookie Lyons, Empire
It's Friday, and we are feeling frisky and overly motivated, a little bad a$$ too. Our latest issue on Balance has taught us many things, one of which is that it's ok to BE both. Kind and bossy. Chill and ambitious. Female and HBIC...of your life especially.
As a female, we often face a wall. This wall might be made up of complacency, self doubt, and yes, haters. We can build around that wall, or we can bust through it and build our own Fempire. Everyone’s Fempire is different…maybe it's being a total boss in your household, raising tiny people to do great things, maybe it's being a leader in your field, creating a career of successes, maybe it's forging the path of entrepreneurship, building a legacy through your own work efforts. So how do you get a there? Well, it's pretty simple, you Beyoncé. What Beyoncé song does not give us all the feels to go conquer the world? We've picked three for you to add to your power playlist.
“Grown Woman”- We all can suffer from imposter syndrome. We believe we aren't able to do the things we want. You have to shake off that mindset and realize you're a grown woman. You CAN do what you want. The best way we've found to fight this is to not only listen to Beyoncé, but to look the part. When you've really developed your style, your personal brand it certainly gives you confidence and direction. Work with a local stylist to develop your signature style. Get a new hairstyle too. Women always feel totally reinvented when they love those locks. It's motivating and empowering.
“Me, Myself, and I”- You can't wait on someone else to help you with your dream. Building your Fempire is tough. And there will be people that doubt you. There will be people that down right want to destroy you. And worst of all, you will have people close to you disappoint you. So how do you do this on your own? You learn. Be a sponge. Read it all. Stop waiting for the right people to come your way. Go out and get it.
“Run the world (Girls)”- “I work my 9 to 5."...our favorite lyric. This is our anthem. It's a mindset, a motto, an affirmation. Taking control of your life involves so many key things. It's a physical and spiritual journey, but just as importantly, it's a financial one as well. To get your mind in the right place, you've got to get connected to your body. You've got use it and appreciate it. It's going to help you build this empire. You've also got to get your finances in order. Making the right financial decisions is critical. Finances can either mean freedom or imprisonment. You have to have freedom to have the flexibility to grow your Fempire. You want to run your world? Focus.
